3 Things To Make Packing And Moving Day Easier

You've decided that you want to move, and you've even found your dream house. Now comes the laborious task of moving. If you've decided to hire a packing service to help you, you've made a great choice, as the moving company will handle much of the hard work so that you don't have to. However, there are plenty of things you can do to make the process even easier.

1. Perform a Quick Cleanup

Do a quick cleanup around your house. Things on your to-do list should include cleaning your furniture, washing your clothes, and making sure all your dishes are clean. Moving soiled and dirty items can cause staining. For example, oily pots and pans can leak onto other things they're packed with, as well as any other items on the moving truck.

Additionally, if the items are heavily soiled, the moving company might be unable to move them. Cleaning beforehand will also making the move-in process easier since there will be one less step you have to do.

2. Prepare the Appliances

While you're already in the cleaning vein, go ahead and handle your appliances. For your freezer and refrigerator, you need to ensure you drain and clean out these appliances at least a couple of days before your move so that they can dry out.

For your washing machine, you want to disconnect the intake hose, clean the inside of the machine and leave it open for a while to ensure the inside of the machine is dry. Remember, performing these steps is critical to ensuring your appliances don't develop mold, especially if you're moving a long distance.

3. Schedule Wisely

The packing company is at your service. Make sure you schedule a moving date that works best for your schedule. For example, if your last day of work is on Friday and you have to move out by Wednesday, don't assume that you have to schedule a move for Saturday. It's okay to wait until Monday if you'd like to give yourself some time to recoup from the workweek and finish a few last-minute tasks.

When you schedule your moving appointment around your schedule, you're more likely to be prepared, well rested, and feel less stressed about the process.

You play a large role when it comes to facilitating your move. The more prepared you are, and the better you plan, the less stressful and easier the move. For more information, contact a packing service near you.

Learning About Your Move

One day a few years ago, I was sitting in my office wondering how to make more money. Fortunately, my questions were answered when my boss pulled me in to talk with me about moving to a new place. I was a little apprehensive at first, but after he explained the perks, I couldn't turn him down. I was really pleased with how things were going, so I took the job and started focusing on my move. We transferred to a new country, and it has been an adventure ever since. Read more on this website to learn about moving the smart way.
